PUBLIC STATEMENT FROM PARKSIDE CONCERNING THE SBC INDEPENDENT REPORT

Parkside Baptist Church has had a cooperative relationship with the Southern Baptist Convention of Churches since our birth in 1949. Through the years we have worked together to share the gospel locally, nationally, and internationally… going into all the world to make disciples for our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Parkside family joins many who are shocked and saddened by the findings of an independent third-party investigation of the Southern Baptist Convention in its mishandling of sexual abuse victims. Never should victims or survivors of sexual abuse be ignored or slandered, nor should those who commit sexual abuse crimes not be held accountable because of their position and standing. Parkside Baptist Church stands with abuse survivors through our prayers and through our efforts to create a safe place for all people to gather to connect with God and with those who love Him.

Pastor Jeff Humphrey and his wife Lisa will be representing Parkside at the Southern Baptist Convention in Anaheim, CA in June 2022. Through conversations and voting they will call for increased accountability and transparency about the way sexual abuse is handled by all SBC churches and entities.

Please join Parkside Baptist Church in being the change we want to see in this world and in prayer that the God who is able to make all things work together for good would do what He has promised in what has been uncovered. We also pray for our Southern Baptist brothers and sisters, that we would each humble ourselves, pray, seek His face and turn from any wicked ways that have allowed people to be sexually abused on our watch.
