How to Know God

God loves you and wants you to experience abundant life here on earth and eternal life afterward.

The Bible says: "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)

"I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." (John 10:10)

However, many people don't have this peace that God offers. Why?

Our Sin Has Separated Us From God.

Even though God created us in His own image, He did not make us to automatically love and obey Him. He gave us the ability to make our own choices. As a result, all of us willingly choose to disobey God and go our own way. This is called sin and it separates us from God.

The Bible says: "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23)

Even though sin separates us from God, many people try to bridge this gap in many ways: by doing good works, by being religious, or by trying to live a moral life. But nothing we can do on our own is able to make us right with God.

The Bible says: "There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death." (Proverbs 14:12)

The Only Thing That Can Bridge the Gap of Sin Between Us and God is the Cross.

Jesus died on the cross and rose from the grave. By doing so, He both paid for the penalty of our sins and overcame death in order for us to have eternal life. God provided this as the only way we can come to Him.

The Bible says: "For there is one God and one mediator between God and man, the man Jesus Christ." (1 Timothy 2:5)

"But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)

Our Response is to Accept Jesus as Our Savior.

We must trust Jesus as Lord and Savior and receive His free gifts of forgiveness of our sins and eternal life.

The Bible says: "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9)

"To all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God." (John 1:12)

Here is How You Can Receive Christ:

1. Admit your need for forgiveness of your sins.

2. Be willing to turn from your sins.

3. Believe that Jesus died for you on the cross and rose from the grave.

4. Pray to invite Jesus to come into your life and control you.

Pray this prayer, or one similar to it: Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. Amen
